Question by Katy P: If I buy car parts (hood, headlights, bumper cover), will an auto shop put the parts I buy on my car for me?
I’m looking to save some money by buying cheaper parts online or at junk shops. If I buy these parts, can I bring them to an auto shop, and will they put the parts on the car for me? Or will they tell me that I have to buy new parts from them?

no…they’re supposed to put on YOUR parts. (providing you get the correct ones…) cheap is not always better and will not always work…(especially on Honda’s.)

Has anyone had problems with car batteries purchased at Oreilly Auto Parts? Manufactured by East Penn. Purchased a 6 year battery 10 months ago, absolutely no problems until 9/11/07. Drove the truck to work, parked as usual, 30 minutes later a co-worker saw smoke coming out of the hood. Another co-worker quickly extinguished the fire with a chemical extinguisher, saving my truck and likely others parked nearby. Long story short, the battery company sent an arson investigator who ruled the cause of the fire was the battery and East Penn has agreed to pay for damages, which were moderate, all things considered. A local mechanic also looked it over and said he had had “lots” of bad Oreilly/East Penn batteries over the years, with the particular model I bought having a reputation for going completely dead soon after purchase due to internal shorting, which he and the arson investigator believe caused my fire. Having deadly potential, wondering if others have had similar problems?

Sounds like you need to use another kind of battery. Let them fix your damages and insist on another brand of battery or credit for one instead of a replacement of the same brand.

I have stock headlamps from my 2008 Dodge Avenger that I want to get rid of. They work fine, my husband just got some different ones to match the color scheme of the car. I thought about e-bay but don’t have a clue how to ship something out like that without it being damaged.

Question by CHAD M: What can i substitute for a vacuum line to get my car to the auto parts store?
1987 Fiero automatic, that is now shifting into gears becaue the vacuum line entering the tranny is cracked, its actually just the RUBBER part. I need to get it to the auto parts store to get the part and i need to drive it there so they can put it on. can i use electical tape to close the gap til i get there? thanks in advcance!!

I need to have my alternator checked but I am still not experienced enough with cars to pull it out of the car myself. If I take it to an auto parts store, in this situation O’riely’s because I have a lifetime warranty on the alternator, will they take it out of my car for me and check it or will I have to find a way to do it myself? Its a 1991 Toyota MR2.

I just posted my friends 91 Chevy S10 Blazer 4 door in the auto parts section of Craigslist for $ 350.00 or best offer hoping to get at least $ 230.00 for it. The posting has been successfull so far since i had over 17 Emails about it. The vehicle runs, but it has a hesitation problem, and will need to be towed. It looks good, but the bad thing is it has over 203k on it. I got people questioning me about the tires, interior, and mileage. Dont these people realise they cant expect much from something this old?

I want to go to a junk yard or a pick up car place for auto parts since the ones I am looking for are not sold at the stores, or I can go to a dealership but their auto parts are so much more expensive. Yet, I’m concerned, because don’t junk yard places sell used parts? Are they reliable? Do they help you install parts and such as well, and if so, how much is their service? thanks! I need all the information I can get.

well all depends what your looking for nothing is better then new parts not at a dealer but auto parts.email me and let me know what your looking for.some places you have to take off your self after spending so much time trying to find the car and parts your looking for.here they have a 25.00 min for any part.
